2026 Law Day

 The Rule of Law and the American Dream

On May 1, Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero will host the Power of Democracy's Law Day Commemoration in Sacramento where the 2026 Civic Learning Awards will be announced. The event will be livestreamed from this website at 2:30PM.

We'd like to share with your peers your plans for this Law Day to inspire others. If you'd like to host an event yourself or with a group of peers and justice partners, let POD know. We may be able to help you coordinate something to commemorate this important day.  

  • Los Angeles County
    The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) typically hosts a rally at the downtown Federal Courthouse Plaza, featuring judicial leaders and a renewal of the attorney oath.

  • San Benito County
    The Superior Court of San Benito County invites students in grades 9-12 to participate in its annual essay contest based on the theme, "The Rule of Law and the American Dream." The Law Day ceremony will take place on May 1, 2026, at 3:30 PM. 

  • Santa Clara County
    The Superior Court of Santa Clara County partners with the Santa Clara Bar Association each year to host a video contest for local youth. The highest-scored entries are promoted on the court's website, and each winner receives a prize.  San Diego County also sponsors a Video and Poster Contest through the local bar association.   • California Lawyers Association (CLA)
    The California Lawyers Association provides resources and virtual content to strengthen the legal profession's commitment to justice. 

  • Other Related Events: The 11th Annual Pathways to Law Summit is scheduled for February 20, 2026, at UC Law San Francisco.
