Sleepy Lagoon Zoot Suit Trial

This is an in-depth lesson. Since most classrooms have just 60 minutes for the visit, this lesson can be delivered two ways:

(1) the classroom teacher covers the historical background (Slides 1–8) ahead of time, and the visiting judge picks up starting at Slide 9 when the trial begins; or
(2) the visiting judge delivers the full lesson start to finish. If students are able to at least view the videos covering the three branches, it will free up more time for discussion about the case.

Confirm with the teacher in advance which format they'd like, and adjust the timing accordingly.
